Just an FYI that Star is doing great so far.
Absolutely no problem with the cats – they actually initiated contact with her and reacted like they already knew her!
We have been for a 15 minute walk and a 45 minute walk. On the first walk, she was a bit timid when cars were going by (maybe back in Ohio she got scared by close calls with some when she was running free before being picked up) and when she saw people across the street. On the second walk she was much better now trots happily alongside Deryn with her nose up, like it was routine. Star was also good playing gently and lounging in the back yard today.
Star voluntarily heads right into her crate every time she comes in the house and stays there waiting for the door to be closed behind her unless we call her or don’t close the door after her within 30 seconds or so.
She has had two small meals today and ate without hesitation. She got a bit curious about what we were having for dinner and got her nose close to our food a couple of times, but being told ”no” sternly a few times put an end to her interest and she lay down on the floor without bothering again. I think she will be better at not doing that after some practice.
We have had her in the family room with us this evening. She seems to feel very comfortable and was stretched out on the floor sleeping for a while.
We will be putting her in her crate overnight. Carol plans to stay home tomorrow to keep her company for the day, just to get her a little more used to her surroundings before leaving her alone for a few hours.
We feel we have made a good choice and are very happy with Star. We are sure she will get better with obedience as she gets more used to our home and her initial curiosity with everything wears off.
We look forward to bringing her back in a month or so you can see how she’s doing.
