Sweet Sally

Dear Susan,

Just wanted to let you know we had a great time on the six legged hike and what a joy it was to walk Sweet Sally. We nicknamed her Sweet Sally because she really was a very sweet girl. A friend of mine who came out for the hike had never walked a dog before, she walked Sally for a good portion of the hike and couldn’t believe how good she was! Sweet Sally got along with everyone, kids, adults, dogs, it didn’t matter. Whoever adopts Sally is going to get a very special and loving little girl.

We have sent along some photos of Sally from the hike. please feel free to use them and our thoughts on Sweet Sally.

You guys have a really special thing going there with CLD. I really appreciate getting such a great dog, having a place to get good raw food, and Lacey always comes back happy and exhausted after boarding. Also, all the words of advice from you and Dave have gone a long way.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and Dave along with your great crew for allowing Sophie to become part of our life.

The timing must have been perfect for us as she was only with you for a few days before she captured my heart.

Thank you for bringing her to Whitby and helping her leave the puppy mill.
She is such a total love bug and just wants to please and be loved.
It is funny to see how she is only starting to learn to run after a toy(and she has been with us 8 months) I guess I never realized that this was a skill that would have been taught as a puppy and her puppy years were torn from her.
Keep loving those dogs of yours-they will find their forever home,

Hello all;

I know that I recently sent you a request to help out the dog rescue where we got Ace.
I am forwarding the email I just received from Sue Steiner and Camp LotsaDogs. She is begging for help!!

This Hike is this weekend. The auction ends on Friday at 6pm. Please, please, please take a look at the items….consider going on the hike.
I’ve donated an item and only one other person and I have bid on it.

Sue is incredible in what she does for these dogs. Not only that, but she remains connected to her animals after they leave as well. I know, without a doubt, that if I have any concerns or issues with Ace, she will be there to help me. I, gratefully, haven’t had to take her up on her offer. That probably has a lot to do with how she works out all the kinks before letting them leave, and matches the dogs with a good fit for an owner.

Please take a moment and go to the link. Look over the items, there will be something there that you could use, or give away as a gift to someone else. I’ve had my eye on that Lavender gift set I’d be happy to get it as a gift from you wink,wink,nudge,nudge.

On Dexter

Hi Susan.
Just wanted to give u an update on dexter. He is doing amazing. He is truly the perfect dog. I have been able to take him everywhere with me with no issues what so ever; everyone loves him and constantly comments on how well behaved he is. He is a huge suck and just loves being cuddled. He has not needed to be crated once. I have left him in little spurts too see how he does and nothing is touched. I have given him tests as you said; leave something yummy on the counter, garbage on the floor, he touches nothing. The only thing I have had to work on with him is patience when getting his dinner or gooing outside and he has already started picking it up and sits before I ask him. He is incredibly smart.
I want to thank you again for all your hard work with the dogs I truly commend you for the amazing work you do. And I want to thank you for dexter he is such a joy and I truly fall more in love with him everyday. I look forward to seeing you in a month and showing you the new tricks we have taught dexter.

On Buddy

Happy new year sue. I just wanted to send you a quick update on sugar ray now my Buddy. Thank you so much for getting him and believing in us. He brings me and my family so much joy and he and abby are best friends. A day doesn’t go by that he doesn’t make us laugh. He is really funny and he is very very happy. He snores and grunts and he is a pure joy to have around. I must send you a picture with him wearing his new boots! You will laugh your head off. He a an issue with other un neutered male dogs that have visited and we are working on that. Mostly to get their owners to have them fixed!! I wouldn’t trade him in for the world. Hope you are well and ill get over to see you soon. Again, thank you.

Hi Susan

Jessie is doing great, both girls love her especially Lauren she is really attached to her. Not sure when I can come up there as we only have one car at the moment and Jack uses it for work and he is working two jobs and I am working lunch hours at Laurens school.

Jessie has made quite a few friends in the neighbourhood (lots of rescue dogs also) and loves to run and play with them in our hydro field. She is so great with kids, I walk with her to pick up Lauren after school and all kids come running when they see Jessie. Jessie loves to chase her tail and can now sit and shake a paw for treats and Jaclyn has taught to give a hug for a treat.

On Hope

Hello: Just to let you know our Beagle-cross, Hope, is becoming a big part of our little family. She has taken over the cats’ favourite sleeping place on the couch, near the window so she can relax while keeping an eye on passersby. She sleeps like a log in her crate and has had no accidents since coming to our home just two weeks ago.

Every morning she and I go for a 45-minute walk and another half-hour at mid-day, which is helping my fitness level considerably. Last Sunday she went to the dog park for the first time and held her own against a galoot Lab. I think you socialized her very well: she is interested in other dogs, but not afraid at all.

She learns fast and is now familiar with “wait,” “let’s go, Hopey,” and “careful” when she crosses in front of me and gets a foot coming forward in her bottom. An added plus, her beauty. Everywhere we go strangers tell her how cute she is.

Her personality is fabulous. She is kind and gentle and will tolerate all manner of hugging and kissing, wrestling and raspberries blown onto her tummy. Our two old cats are perplexed but in no danger, Hope either ignores them or comes to visit when they are petted. Her energy is contagious and such a joy after the past year of living with a very old dog. She is quick to find things to chew, but caught just as fast. In other words, the honeymoon is continuing.

Thank you for bringing such a lovely dog into our lives.
