for the love of dog wellness centre

We are always in need of people to foster dogs for us. We give you food, take care of vetting, all we ask is that you treat the dog as your own and bring them to us for appointments to meet prospective adopters. Fostering lasts a maximum of four weeks.

I have been fostering about 3 months after I rescued my two beautiful coonhounds from Camp Lotsa dogs. I have now fostered many many dogs. I have to say it is a great experience. It is very rewarding and you feel amazing knowing what you are doing to help this dog.

Many people ask me “how do you not keep them” Well I say that you have to into the mindset that you are here to help. Having two dogs already myself helps. But if you remeber that if you don’t help this dog come over some of the issues they may have they spend longer waiting for their forever home. I can’t tell you how great it is to see one of your fosters get adopted. Knowing that you helped just a little in making that happen.

For me I have fostered alot of they “shy” dogs. They seem to gravitate to me, which means I can gain their trust. To see a once shy and scared dog go running up to people and want affection where as before wanted nothing to do with it. You really can make a difference in these dogs lives by fostering.

Have to say couldn’t do it without the great help I get from my Coonhounds Rosie and Blu. They help the new dog with building trust. It can see that Rosie and Blu trust me and it also learns by them setting a good example. So please think about fostering. Sue needs the help and so do the dogs.

For those of you who think it is to hard as you will get to attached, think again. Being attached is not a bad thing. It is what helps you help the dogs. I know at the end of the day that these dogs lives are better for the help me and my dogs have been able to give.

Thanks Sue for always bringing up such great dogs and giving them a second chance in life!!
